PFL should not block high -free agent from signature immediately with UFC

Aaron Pico is a free agent, and he has made it clear: he does not want to fight for the professional fighter league.

Pico has also made it clear that He wants to sign with UFC. UFC president Dana White did not hide his team’s desire to sign Pico – so interest is definitely mutual.

This situation looks quite cut and dry. Is and is not the case. However, it is in Pico and the best interest of PFL to share ways immediately. While Pico is a free agent who has the right to receive offers from other promotions, PFL has the right to match any offers it receives from another promotion for one year.

Pico does not want this, and while the 28-year-old is ready to return to action, he is so convinced not to fight again for PFL that he is ready to sit for a year to prevent PFL President Donn Davis of matches the offers that he is sure to get from UFC.

PFL inherited Pico’s contract when you bought Beller in November 2023. The purpose of the purchase was to strengthen the PFL list. Champions and fighters like Johnny Eblen, Corey Anderson, Patricio Pitbull, Aj McKee, Cris Cyborg and Aaron Pico immediately brought a higher level of respect for the PFL list.

However, many numerous fighters from the short list above have requested or given their release from PFL. In fact, Pitbull was signed by UFC, and his first war was part of a mass announcement by White on February 19.

Due to the age of Pico, 28, he is one of the most valuable fighters attached to the PFL. This explains why PFL is probably not excited to immediately descend with UFC.

In the Pico situation, the fighters are aware that they have only a short window to compete. Pico entered MMA with one of the most impressive amateur lecturers we have ever seen. As a professional, Pico is 13-4, and he has not lost a war-making a loss caused by an injury to the first round shoulder in 2022 for nearly six years. During that stretch, Pico is 9-1.

In an interview with Mma junkiePico spoke about the desire to return to work, as it is his living.

Like Anderson, Pitbull and Ebllen, Pico has complained about the lack of activity since PFL bought Bellator, and that is the main reason he wants.

Pico and others have struck PFL with criticism. Pitbull and Anderson were aloud and in accordance with their complaints about inactivity. Pitbull took his release and a brilliant first war with UFC against Yair Rodriguez. Anderson has a planned war with PFL in July, but in the meantime, he is looking to find a boxing match.

Eblen has been the latest to complain about inactivity and no communication from PFL.

It cannot feel good about a PFL fighter like Pico, Anderson or Ebllen to have been set up with a promotion, but have to watch UFC to announce what felt like a million fighting on Wednesday, while you still have nothing official.

More honestly, while it may not directly affect the organization financially, the PFL reputation is getting a public beat.

PFL has a set of lucrative tournaments starting in April that will last until August and their champions series begins in July.

Instead of being able to focus on the fighters participating in those events, many of those who have been written and discussed are the voices of the most renowned promotion fighters they want.

At this point, Pico will not positively affect PFL. Matching an offer he receives from UFC is essentially playing holding from White and Co.

In business, there are times when you play constantly is in the best interest of a party. Perhaps Davis and PFL believe not to give up their rights to match, gives them time to negotiate with pico.

However, this does not seem to be one of those situations – as Pico seems determined to adhere to his weapons.

By not giving up their right to match a bid for Pico, PFL is risking to further damage his reputation with the fighters. This is not good for recruitment by moving forward. To put things clearly, the danger does not match the reward.

I hope PFL allows Pico to go so that he and promotion hope to move and advance. It is time to focus on fighters who actually want to fight for you.
