Two Republican senators sent a letter to the US small business administration (SBA) to seek response as to why the planned Federation of the American Parentry received more than $ 100 million in Covid-19 aid funds, which lawmakers claim were “illegal”.
Sen. Kentucky Rand Paul, Chairman of the Committee on Internal Security and Afferactions of the Government, and Iowa Senator Joni Ernst, who heads the Small Business Committee and entrepreneurship, sent a letter to SBA Kelly Loeffler manager to request documents and records related to the Acceptance of Pattern Parental Funds (PPP).
According to the letter, the planned parents’ associates received about $ 120 million in PPP credit in 2020 and 2021.
Lawmakers have asked the funds for recent years, although they are reported to have not received information from the previous administration.
“The Biden administration prevented our investigation of potentially illegal applications of PPP loans to planned parents’ entities, and we are sure that the Trump administration will ensure the transparency that the American people deserve,” Paul said in a statement given to CNA.
Ernst said in a statement to CNA that PPP loans were “designed to help Americans fight during the pandemia, not go to inappropriate recipients that promote abortion on request.”
“The stoned Biden administration tried in my supervision efforts at every turn and forbade the American people from learning how the planned parent entered Covid,” she added.
“Now that administrator Loeffler has prompted in a new Age of Transparency in SBA, I look forward to working with him to discover the truth and stop the flow of these funds.”
Senators are looking for all registrations regarding planned parents’ facilities seeking PPP funds, along with any communication with co -workers. They also sought information about efforts to recover funds that were properly given to planned parenting and an explanation for the funds were approved.
According to the letter, the SBA under Trump’s first administration told the planned parental associates that they had unjustly applied for 38 PPP loans reaching $ 80 million and informed them that they needed to return the money.
However, in 2021 under the administration of Biden, the SBA approved $ 40 million in additional funds and allowed at least 44 associates to pardon their loans.
“Borriers who make incorrect or false acceptability certificates in their PPP request are subject to heavy fines,” the senators say.
Senators asked SBA to investigate whether any planned parent collaborator “made a false conscious certification for their applications” and “to follow all the necessary sentences for any illegal participation in the program”.
Katie Glenn Daniel, Director of the Council of Legal Affairs and Policies in Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, alleged in a statement given to CNA that the Biden “illegally” gave the planned parenting loan for which they were not acceptable, calling it “one of the many. Trump is now dismantling. ”
“We praise sense. Ernst and Paul for the search for accountability, and we are optimistic that under this new administration of transparency and common sense, the American people will receive the answers that Biden refused to give, and hopefully our money,” Daniel said.
The planned parent did not respond to a comment request.
